Owing to the heavy rains, the floods heavily affected several parts of Kolhapur, Banda, Kudal and other parts of Maharashtra. Several homes were destroyed and people were rendered homeless.

The Sindhudurg Diocesan Development Society (SDDS) immediately responded to the situation by organising relief operations and providing aid to those affected. The team comprising Bishop Alwyn Barreto, President of SDDS along with Fr Melwin Pais, Director of SDDS; Diocesan Representatives, Fr Sebastian Rodrigues and Fr Milton Monteiro; Rajendra Kemble, Coordinator; Melwin Pangya, Maharashtra State officer of Caritas India and Mukund of the National Team Member, visited the affected families, and offered them assistance in the form of food grains and bare necessities. Counselling was also provided to the families, guiding them on how to get their lives back on track.
